Another Marvel show bites the dust at Netflix .  Deadline reports that the streaming giant has now cancelled Daredevil after three seasons.

The Netflix and Disney library of content divorce has dropped any sense of being amicable as Netflix has officially cancelled “Daredevil,” the first of its Marvel shows to premiere on the platform, after three seasons. This marks the third Marvel drama to be cancelled at Netflix in recent weeks, following “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage” which were both axed after their second seasons. “Daredevil,” led by Charlie Cox, recently launched its third season to much acclaim. Netflix said in a statement: “Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to our partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. Trying to quash the negative stigma that can be associated with disfigurement, the British Film Institute (BFI) have announced they will no longer provide funding for films that include villains with facial scars. BFI deputy chief executive officer Ben Roberts tells The Telegraph : “Film is a catalyst for change and that is why we are committing to not having negative representations depicted through scars or facial difference in the films we fund.” A physical disfigurement has often been sported by villains or (more often) villainous henchmen in films, from the one-armed man of “The Fugitive” to countless baddies in the James Bond franchise. The BFI is the first to support a new awareness campaign called #IAmNotYourVillain which was launched by charity Changing Faces. The BFI recently funded the drama “Dirty God” which takes the opposite approach, one following a woman who rebuilds her life after an acid attack and starring real-life burns survivor Vicky Knight.
